Roger D. Colbert Memorial Scholarship


In honor of past Illinois Jaycee, JCI Senator and member of the Illinois Jaycee Charitable Foundation Board of Directors - Roger Colbert (1948-2003), the Illinois Jaycee Charitable Foundation is conducting an annual scholarship competition in the memory of Roger.

ELIGIBILITY: All graduating high school seniors, residing in Illinois, who will be enrolling in their first year of full-time study at accredited post-secondary colleges, universities or vocational school who are related to an Illinois Jaycee member or JCI Senator are eligible for application.

CRITERIA FOR AWARD: Recipients are based upon involvement, leadership roles, honors and awards, Jaycee organization participation, employment, personal statements, financial statement, scholastic achievement and sponsor letter. Specific questions can be found on the application. Judging is done by an independent group with recipients being notified in April.
All applications must be received by March 1st of each year to be considered.

RESTRICTION: Applicants who have won an Illinois Jaycee Charitable Foundation Scholarship are not eligible for this award.

Scholarship applications are available by contacting the Illinois Jaycee Service Center or downloading the application form from this web site.

Official announcement and recipient introductions will be at the Illinois Jaycees General Assembly Business Meeting in May of each year.

The number of $500 and $1000 scholarships awarded annually will be determined by the amount of funds raised from the result of The Bubba Bash Golf Tournament held in June of each year, through private donations from other foundations and individuals and the number of eligible applications submitted.
